While you are enjoying the extraordinary pageantry of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations, we would like to invite you to give some thought to where we can in the Autumn join in The Queen’s Green Canopy project with tree planting in our wonderful green spaces in Surrey.
We are launching a competition for Surrey Gardens Trust members to let us know where they would like to see trees planted for future generations to enjoy. Perhaps you are aware of a space where trees have been lost in recent years? Perhaps there is a local project which involves trees being planted in a new scheme? Please feel free to think broadly. We leave it up to you.
Our competition invites SGT members to nominate a public green space (not necessarily of historic significance) in Surrey where a tree or trees may be planted.
SGT will supply the tree (or trees) and necessary planting materials.
To enter, please submit a 100-300-word note explaining:
1. Who you are.
2. Why the particular green space should benefit from the tree planting.
3. What tree(s) you would like to plant and why they are suitable for that particular location.
4. That you have permission.
5. How the trees will be looked after in the coming years.
Please send your note to chairsurreygt@gmail.com
Deadline for entries is 1st September 2022.
